Schofield Japanese Beater B5 Is a Mix of Simplicity & Style

Schofield, a British watch maker, has released the Japanese Beater B5, a companion piece to the Japanese Bronze Beater B4, and a watch it describes as the “prettiest Schofield to date.”

The watch features a 44mm Brutalist case in a ‘Middle-tex’ finish stainless steel with a beautiful sterling silver and enamel caseback with a plum tree motif inspired by a manhole cover from Fuch in Tokyo.

With a stepped “muted, blossom colored” dial, green luminous Super-LumiNova C3 highlights, and brushed gold hands that match the gold ring in the middle of the crown, the face reflects the plum color palette.

The watch, like all Schofields, is fixed on a coarse-weave Japanese plum canvas strap that has been organically dyed with persimmon and plum and has an indigo calf lining.

Schofield presents the watch in a limited edition ash box with ‘X marks the spot’ etching inside the lid, a removable cedar mounting block, and a matching pin slot.

The Japanese Beater B5, powered by a STP 1-11 automatic time-only movement, is currently available as a limited edition of 29 pieces through Schofield for £2,983 GBP (roughly $3,594 USD) excluding VAT.
