Sean “Diddy” Combs To Host 2022 Billboard Music Awards

“This will be unlike any awards show — I’m bringing the love and setting the frequency at an all-time high,” said two-time BBMA winner Combs in a statement via Billboard. “The Billboard Music Awards truly represent the artists and where music is today, so I’m excited to curate the biggest live performances and surprises. The world has to tune in to see.”

On May 15, NBC will broadcast a live event from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, which will be hosted by the multi-hyphenate creative and public figure. Peacock will also broadcast the Billboard Music Awards live.

In terms of nominations, The Weeknd leads the pack with 17 nominations, followed by Doja Cat with 14 nominations. Along with Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, both artists are in the running for top artist.

Rodrigo is also up for best new artist, a prize she won alongside Giveon, Masked Wolf, Pooh Shiesty, and The Kid LAROI at this year’s Grammys. Meanwhile, Kanye West has been nominated for several awards in the categories of Christian and gospel music.

According to Billboard, this year’s winners will be determined “based on key fan interactions with music, such as album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social engagement, as tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Luminate (formerly MRC Data).”
