TAG Heuer Marks 50 Years of Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 With Limited Edition Chronographs

TAG Heuer and automobile partner Porsche are commemorating the 50th anniversary of Porsche’s original 911 Carrera model.

To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7, TAG Heuer is releasing two limited edition Carrera models that include iconic design elements from the automobile.

TAG Heuer chose two of the 27 vibrant colors available for the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 – red and blue – to reproduce the trademarked livery that ran up the side of the pure white cars and now flows down the caseband of the new individually numbered limited-edition chronographs.

The 42mm tricompax chronographs are available in stainless steel (500 pieces in the Blue Edition) and 18K rose gold (250 pieces in the Red Edition). TAG Heuer’s Calibre Heuer 02 chronograph movement with an 80-hour power reserve and an unique winding rotor inspired by Porsche is three-spoke steering wheel powers both parts.

The Blue Edition comes with a fabric Porsche strap as well as a stainless steel bracelet, while the Red Edition comes with a red alligator strap with a gold pin buckle.

The Carrera name became the name of TAG Heuer’s racing chronograph in 1963 and 911 versions in 1972, both motivated by the infamous Carrera Panamericana race.

“The name and spirit of the Carrera are incredibly meaningful and emblematic for both TAG Heuer and Porsche,” says Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer. “So, for the 50th anniversary of the very first Porsche 911 Carrera, the iconic RS 2.7, we wanted to create a tribute watch that would express the character and power of this ground-breaking sports car within our own signature TAG Heuer Carrera chronograph. The two timepieces we imagined together are sleek, assertive, memorable; they reflect their illustrious past while also projecting something even more exciting – what Porsche and TAG Heuer can now achieve together.”

TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche RS 2.7 watches are now available for £6,100 GBP (about $6,900 USD) and £19,550 GBP (roughly $22,200 USD).
