2K Games Confirms New ‘Mafia’ Game In the Works

In honor of the franchise’s 20th anniversary, 2K Games and Hanger 13 have announced that a brand new Mafia title is in the works.

Hanger 13 general manager Roman Hladk announced the news on the studio’s blog, saying, “I’m happy to confirm we’ve started work on an all-new Mafia project! While it’s a few years away and we can’t share anything more right now, we’re really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.”

As you can see, specifics of the upcoming installment are being kept largely under wraps by 2K for the time being, but a prior report from Kotaku earlier this year cited a rumor of a Mafia prequel based in Italy and running on Epic Games‘ Unreal Engine 5.

Of course, neither 2K nor Hanger 13 have verified or even commented on any of these reports, so fans of the Mafia franchise would be wise to wait for any official statements from the publisher and developer. Given how early the game is under production, there will undoubtedly be plenty of information in the future.
