World’s First Space Hotel Will Open in 2025

A trip to the moon could be a reality sooner than you think. The Orbital Assembly Corporation announced plans for its two space stations earlier this week, including tourist accommodations. The project includes two stations: the Pioneer Station, which can accommodate 28 people, and the Voyager Station, which can accommodate 400 people.

While the Voyage Station is set to open in 2027, new information has revealed that the Pioneer Station will be operational by 2025.

According to CNN, the Orbital Assembly Corp. claims to be planning a space “business park” that will house both offices and tourists. While space travel and tourism appear to be closer than ever, travel costs remain exorbitant. “The goal has always been to make it possible for large amounts of people to live, work and thrive in space,” Tim Alatorre, the company’s chief operating officer, said in a new interview with CNN Travel.

“It’s going to get us the opportunity to have people start to experience space on a larger scale, faster,” Alatorre said of the new Pioneer Station’s opening and its smaller scale concept. Alatorre has confirmed that the space stations will have artificial gravity, allowing visitors to move around as they would on Earth. “For the average person, being in space will be a sci-fi dream experience… Our vision is to make space a destination people will yearn to visit, with familiar elements provided by the presence of gravity.”

It’s unclear whether space tourism is something to expect to be ready by 2025.
