Zion Williamson has been hitting the gym in preparation for the 2022-23 NBA season, both physically and psychologically. He will be wearing the Jordan Zion 2, his second trademark sneaker, on the floor.
The Jordan Zion 2 is the successor to the Jordan Zion 1. It is designed to allow Williamson to be fully locked in on the court while also improving responsiveness and comfort. This is accomplished by dividing the shoe into three distinct sections: the heel for impact resistance, the middle for resilience and containment, and the toes for comfort and mobility.
The Zion 2 introduces a new concept that decouples the strobel, moving it from a full-length unit to a focus on the heel, allowing for 20% more Zoom Air on the forefoot (increasing responsiveness) and a smoother, more comfortable landing on the heel after an explosive dunk. Containment is required with explosiveness, which is achieved with a performance cup sole that wraps high up the foot and a forefoot strap that works in tandem with the lacing system for optimal support.
The Zion 2’s design combines game-changing technology with a throwback aesthetic, paying homage to otherworldly athletes and Nike icons from the 1980s and 1990s. It also includes an updated Zion logo.
The “Voodoo,” inspired by New Orleans culture, and the “Hope Diamond,” with a prism-like pattern on the tongue and around the heel, are among the launch colorways.
The Jordan Zion 2 “Voodoo” colorway will be available on June 22nd, while the “Hope Diamond” colorway will be available on June 30th. At Nike.com and select retailers.
