A. Lange & Söhne Releases Upgraded Zeitwerk 2.0

A. Lange & Söhne has unveiled an improved version of its Zeitwerk mechanical digital watch.

The new 41.9mm Zeitwerk and its new handwound calibre L043.6, presented in 18K pink gold and platinum references, feature better technical characteristics, including a power reserve that has been doubled to 72 hours.

The most noticeable difference is the pusher at four o’clock, which can be used to advance the hour ring, adding convenience when traveling. The ‘time bridge’ in the center of the dial has also been modified, giving the little seconds at six of the clock more room.

Lange’s Zeitwerk, first launched in 2009, was pioneering for displaying the time utilizing enormous jumping numerals for hours and minutes.

The dial pattern, with its three quick leap numeral discs and rings, was inspired by the five-minute clock that still maintains time above the stage of Dresden’s Semper Opera House, close to Lange’s Glashutte headquarters.

The new 2.5Hz calibre L043.6 expands on the current L043.1 by using twin mainsprings within a single barrel for double the power reserve. The 59 jewel movement has 451 components and a remontoir constant force mechanism.

The new Zeitwerk is now available at A. Lange & Söhne merchants for $101,000 USD and $112,000 USD.
