adidas Taps Philllllthy for Wabi-Sabi adidas NMD S1

Phillip Leyesa (better known as Philllllthy) of Brooklyn has a devoted following for his wabi-sabi aesthetic and unique take on upcycling, which he’s brought to his new NMD S1 collaboration with adidas.

The NMD S1 is a DIY project made official for Philllllthy, who has gained notoriety in recent years for his signature distressed pants, hoodies, and sneakers — most notably, a Dior x Air Jordan 1 created for Daniel Arsham.

The new sneaker is inspired by a custom pair of indigo patchwork NMDs made by Philllllthy in 2021. It has a space-dyed Primeknit upper with a melange of patterned details, a semi-translucent ice blue midsole stuffed with white BOOST foam, and a toothed outsole with adidas Originals’ trefoil logo as a cushioning pattern. The midsole features Philllllthy’s signature P logo, and the look is completed with custom laces and tan suede tongue tabs.

The Philllllthy x adidas NMD S1 was released yesterday on Philllllthy’s website and quickly sold out. It will, however, be available on adidas’ online store, the CONFIRMED app, and select retailers on November 30, for $220 USD.
