Ant Kai has created a custom pair of Sacai x Nike LDWaffle “Boro” sneakers inspired by traditional Japanese Sashiko stitching found on previous official releases such as the Air Force 1 and Air Jordan 4.
Kai stitched crosses on the toe box, dashes on the side panels, and waves across the lateral swooshes on a base of all-white sacai x Nike LDWaffles.
The overlaid fabrics came from thrifted denim, and the white fabrics came from a Japanese fabric store. There are also dyed blue outsoles, aged double-stack midsoles, and custom tongue tags.
Kai’s Nike x Sacai “Boro” customs on display were his first, and he plans to make more for those who are interested — possibly on different silhouettes. View more of his work on his website and social media.
