Brands are now more focused than ever on attainable sustainability measures that counteract the inherent waste caused in the manufacturing of consumer goods. As a result, one ongoing eco-friendly competition in sneakers has been to create a sneaker with the lowest amount of life cycle CO2e emissions.
ASICS has stated that it is going even further with their GEL-LYTE III CM 1.95, which emits 1.95kg of CO2e, nearly an entire kilogram less than the previous leader.
The GEL-LYTE III CM 1.95 is the result of almost ten years of research and development in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and it represents a big step forward in the brand’s ambitions to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
To achieve this, key components include a new carbon negative foam, recycled and solution dyed polyester, and a novel structure backed by tape.
The ASICS GEL-LYTE III CM 1.95 will be widely accessible from ASICS during the Fall/Winter 2023 season. Stay tuned for further release details as the brand gets ready to launch.
