This year marks the 25th anniversary of several Nike silhouettes. While the Air Max 97 celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022, one of Nike’s most exemplary models will celebrate its 40th anniversary: the Air Force 1. The legendary pair has held a prolific stance in sports and music culture since its release in 1982, never losing touch with the wearers who have made it iconic.
With the holiday season in mind, Japan-based retailer atmos is releasing a commemorative book to mark the occasion. It is the collaboration of atmos founder Hommyo Hidefum and SHOES MASTER magazine frontman Hirofumi “Koji” Kojima.
The hardcover manual includes a collection of 40 masterful Air Force 1 creations produced over the years. You will find collaborative hits like the Supreme x Nike Air Force 1 High “World Famous,” Virgil Abloh‘s semi-translucent versions, and plenty more to feast your eyes on as you flip through its glossy pages. In addition to 1-of-1 sample pairs and not-for-sale pieces, previously unseen CO.JP exclusives make their debut.
Interviews with renowned AF1 enthusiasts, such as fragment design’s Hiroshi Fujiwara, appear, as does a detailed history of the silhouette by Japanese writer Masayuki Ozawa. The book is intended to be a sneaker handbook for future footwear enthusiasts to pass down from generation to generation.
