Awake NY has resurrected The Merrell 1TRL’s Jungle Moc & They Sexy AF

Awake NY isn’t your typical streetwear brand that’s teamed up with a footwear company. It takes its own time and moves in its own way.
It doesn’t work with the most popular silhouettes or those that are guaranteed to sell out; instead, it picks its models thoughtfully and puts equal attention into each project’s implementation.

That’s why it’s no surprise that the brand’s next footwear partnership will be on the Merrell 1TRL Jungle Moc, a shoe that only a few sneakerheads are likely to know about, let alone possess. However, now that it’s on SSENSE’s website for $100, anyone may own it.

Initially, Awake only revealed pieces of the upper, outsole, and heel in a single Instagram post. The Awake NY branding can be found on the lateral quarter panel, imprinted on a nappy gray suede upper. The characteristic outsole traction of the Jungle Moc is preserved and rendered in a darker gray. The heel tab and the edge of the outsole, where it wraps over the midsole at the arch of the foot, have red accents.

The shoe has no laces, instead opting for a slip-on design that contributes to the sneaker’s overall comfort. The Jungle Moc was created with utility in mind and was created to provide all-day comfort. It’s as close to a dad shoe as you can get.

Don’t be startled by the Awake NY x Merrell 1TRL collaboration. The Merrell 1TRL is on the rise, thanks to the utilitarian and outdoor trend that has swept the footwear industry in recent years. The same tendency that has helped companies like Salomon and, to a lesser extent, Crocs thrive has now turned its attention to Merrell 1TRL.

Merrell 1TRL also makes a few pretty fashionable performance sneakers, some of which wouldn’t look out of place on a sneaker boutique’s shelves.
The Jungle Moc, on the other hand, is an original design that, like the brand’s Hydro Moc, leans toward the “hate it or love it” aesthetic.
