Under NIGO‘s creative direction, KENZO‘s Spring/Summer 2023 campaign showcases a men’s and women’s collection that embodies inclusivity, individuality, and global perspective. Featuring a diverse cast of models and musicians, including Lil Dre, Nina Utashiro, Moses Battiest, Ama Elsesser, Sunmoon Jung, Lily McMenamy, Omar Sesay, Lulu Tenney, and Bomi Youn, the campaign artfully blends sailor motifs with streetwear and Parisian themes.
NIGO reimagines KENZO’s signature badges and emblematic elements to signify the House’s achievements and his personal success. The naval ensemble, for example, incorporates a plethora of KENZO badges, with one badge reading “Jungle” and another referencing vintage branding. The collection’s vest takes a different twist on badges, instead representing a life jacket with its yellow colorway.
The campaign also features streetwear-inspired pieces, such as a KENZO-branded nameplate buckle belt and a badged scarf hanging from a model’s jean pocket. Women’s pieces get a similar at-sea treatment.
