“Champagne Gold/White” is the final iteration of Japanese illustrator Hajime Sorayama‘s futuristic Mizuno footwear collaboration, following special-edition “Dark Grey” and “Silver” versions released earlier this year.
The upcoming WAVE PROPHECY SORAYAMA features white semi-translucent uppers with matte gold accents along the eyestays and lateral RunBird logos, as well as metallic pieces secured on the heel counter, in a sleek metallic design reminiscent of Sorayama’s sexy robot series.
A mirrored gold top plate is sandwiched between a milky rubber outsole that arches over the heel in Sorayama’s custom “INFINITY WAVE” sole unit. Scaling air pockets on the midsoles provide reactive lightweight cushioning, while gold plating is visible through bottom cutouts.
“Having a date today! Sneakers for a special occasion! That’s the concept,” Sorayama said of the silhouette in a prior interview.
The new WAVE PROPHECY SORAYAMA colorway will be available first at 2G on May 7 and then at select retailers worldwide on May 14.
