IKEA’s Frakta Bag Is All Goth Now

IKEA and Swedish House Mafia, are teaming up on a music-inspired furniture and home ware collection.

IKEA’s iconic Frakta bag takes on a new look after being influenced by the house music trio. The beloved blue carryall has been reimagined in black, devoid of all color, and large enough to hold up to 100 vinyl records.

The musicians collaborated with the home-goods giant to design a carrier for cables, cords, and other electronic music accessories, as well as a cross body-bag for headphones and a laptop, further “remixing” the famous shopper.

According to a press release, IKEA and Swedish House Mafia will reveal the rest of the collection during Milan Design Week, which will include over 20 furniture pieces and “smart home furnishing solutions” before it hits stores in September.

When it comes to collaboration, IKEA never disappoints. Remember its recent collab with Daniel Arsham on a “flying” clock? The late Virgil Abloh on the famous “Wet Grass” rug (among other statement pieces), and Sonos on speaker-shelf hybrids.

Not to mention Balenciaga’s $2,145 IKEA-blue shopping bag, which was not an official collaboration with the homeware retailer but prompted IKEA to respond with a witty retort.
