Kim Kardashian is leading the charge for Winter 2022 in Demna‘s Balenciaga advertisements, which have received just as much praise as the brand’s catwalk displays.
We see styles worn by Kim Kardashian in a fantastical winter setting, highlighting the “360° Collection” that made its debut during Paris Fashion Week in March and featured comments by Demna on the continuing Ukrainian crisis, consumption, and global warming.
It comes after previous commercials that focused on the influencer-turned-lifestyle mogul’s love of a selfie and her catwalk debut at Balenciaga’s 51st haute couture show, “Hard Couture.” Balenciaga Winter 2022 now comes to life through the eye of Berlin-based photographer Daniel Roché, who was in charge of the house’s underwear and swimwear ads.
Kim may be seen wearing style 21 from the performance, a yellow and dark blue viscose jersey dress, as well as outfit 69, a matte cyan spandex swimsuit gown, which was the show is last ensemble and walked alongside a coordinating yellow piece to symbolize the Ukrainian flag.
Other items seen on the cast, which includes Alexa Demie, Big Matthew, Khadim Sock, and Kim Yeon-koung, all wear the newest and best from Balenciaga, include the Crush Bag, HD Sneaker, Swing Bag, Knife Wader, Trash Pouch, and Glove Boot. The HD Sneaker, which takes a sporty approach to some of the house’s prior molded slip-on efforts and adds technical elements and laces to the otherwise lightweight pair, is likely the standout here with the famous Trash Pouch.
The Knife Wader is a great example of gender-neutral clothing; it features a stiletto heel with a sharp point that extends into a loose-fitting knee-high boot in menswear and womenswear looks. Meanwhile, items like the XXXL hoodie are styled for contrasting weather conditions: “layered pieces in the hot sun, minimal clothing in the frigid cold,” according to the brand.
Balenciaga’s Winter 2022 collection is currently available in-store and online, with more pieces expected to arrive soon.
