Over the last few years, New Balance has surprised the sneaker community with its strong and constant output of sneaker collaborations and top tier general releases. The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” is one collection that falls into the latter category.
The main design of the 2002R is kept, but the various overlays look gnawed at, and the tongues show their inner foam to give the kicks a more deconstructed look and feel. Arriving in a new lilac colorway.
A hazy lilac tint pervades the mesh underlays as well as the shaggy suede overlays that run along the heels, mid-foot, and toe tips. Extra subdued gray accents adorn the quarters, lower heels, toe boxes, and throat, while creamy applications appear on the laces.
The traditional 2002R marking appears on the collars and heels, with the latter appearing in tonal form on the exposed windows. There is no release date yet, but these will most likely be available through New Balance and select retailers in the coming months.
