The Nike Air Force 1 mule, technically known as the Nike Air Force 1 Lover XX Premium, initially appeared in 2018 as part of Nike’s “Reimagined” line, which was inspired by an all-female creative collective.
Nike revisits the Lover XX silhouette in off-white, black, and “Cinder Orange” in light of the recent popularity of mules.
The laceless variant is essentially a shortened version of the AF-1, with matte leather uppers and perforations on the tongue for ventilation. Nike Swooshes are embroidered on the heels, and the outsole grooves are mirrored on the insoles.
Nike’s latest mules follow the Shox Mule MR4 collaboration with Martine Rose and comparable entries from other footwear behemoths such as Reebok’s Club C Laceless Mule and the New Balance 2002R mule.
Nike has released the Nike Air Force 1 Lover XX Premium for $130 USD. While originally designed for women, the pairs are now available in larger sizes as well.
