Road-Legal McLaren P1 GTR Auctions for €2M

Most of us love a McLaren but a road-legal monster? although.. if you have couple of million dollars in the bank and a desire to build one.

In that case, Lanzante is the plug, converting the track-only McLaren P1 GTR into a road-going machine, and one has now appeared on the auction market courtesy of Collecting Cars.

The GTR-spec P1 is one of only 58 cars built and features a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 and electric motor that produce 986 BHP and can accelerate to 62 MPH in under 2.8 seconds before reaching 217 MPH. When combined with the significant 50kg weight reduction over the standard road car, courtesy of an even lighter interior and elements such as a twin-exit Inconel and titanium alloy exhaust, the P1 GTR offers an astounding power-to-weight ratio of 687 BHP per tonne.

While the car has been converted to road-legal specifications, many of the track-specific features remain throughout. The windows, for example, are made of polycarbonate, while the fixed DRS rear wing and ERS-style push-to-pass system are only found on race cars (and the new Porsche 911 GT3). Everything about this car is well thought out, right down to the wing mirrors, which have been repositioned for improved driver visibility and drag reduction.

The car is finished in white with racing liveries and features race-spec four-point harness-equipped black Alcantara sports seats, a carbon fiber steering wheel, an emergency kill switch, and fire suppression system buttons.

With just over a day left, the bid for the McLaren P1 GTR is €2,000,000 EUR (approximately $2.1M USD). For more information head over to Car Collecting’s website.
