The new rectangular dish, which is thinner and lighter than Starlink’s previous circular dish, enables users to connect to the company’s ever-expanding satellite network in low Earth orbit. The dish has been approved by the Federal Communications Commission, some months after SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell announced that the business was working to reduce production costs for Starlink hardware.

In addition, the rectangular dish comes with a new router that has improved MU-MIMO capabilities, allowing the device to support three independent channels of simultaneous traffic for numerous devices.

Starlink’s beta program began towards the end of 2020, and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk revealed in August that the business has shipped more than 100,000 units. Starlink completed its beta phase in October and is currently accepting orders on a first-come, first-served basis.

The new dish is now available for purchase on Starlink’s website, where the business now provides a variety of mounting solutions for rooftops, yards, and various home exteriors. The total cost of the Starlink arrangement remains $499 USD, with the company’s internet subscription costing $99 USD per month.
