Jordan Brand has reworked the Air Jordan 12 in a variety of colorways over the years, but none have had the same impact on the shoe’s history as the original “Taxi.” It is unusual to see a model so dedicated to one look, as colorways like the “Wings,” “Reverse Taxi,” and now “Black Taxi” have all taken inspiration from the “Taxi” color scheme.
The “Taxi” treatment graced the Air Jordan 12 Low Golf earlier this year, four years after the look was last seen on the Air Jordan 12. Instead of simply reissuing the colorway, a “Black Taxi” rework is on the way.
Yellow “Taxi” hits at the collar eyelets, tongue and heel branding, outsole detailing, and midfoot patches add contrast to the all-black base. Nubuck is positioned next to a scaly leather on the upper, which takes its typical shape. Following that, black laces and a black sole unit complete this OG-inspired look by drawing attention to the yellow accents by making it the only point of contrast.
The Air Jordan 12 “Black Taxi” will be available for $200 USD on November 19th at Nike and select retailers.
