In honor of Pride Month, Nike has included the Cortez in their “Be True” campaign for 2022, alongside a previously seen SB Dunk Low colorway.
Nike’s “Be True” collection, which coincides with Pride Month in June, continues Nike’s tradition of celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. The Cortez is one of the sneakers that the brand has decided to include in its lineup this year, and the kids’ version has just been released.
Layered Swooshes embroidered on each side of the shoe and a multicolor gradient on a portion of the midsole are key elements of the theme. This was most likely added to channel the essence of a rainbow, which is a symbol commonly associated with the annual celebration.
The off-white upper features traditional Cortez elements like suede and canvas, while the outsole features the brand’s iconic herringbone pattern. While the tongue and insole feature “Be True” branding, which completes the colorway’s detailing.
Although no specific date has been set for this release, it is expected to arrive in June alongside the rest of the “Be True” collection at select retailers and Nike.
