Vans collaborates on its latest project with the late musician and visual artist Daniel Johnston‘s estate and Hi, How Are You foundation. “Hi, How Are You?” is a foundation established in Johnston’s honor to promote mental health and a culture of inclusion through thoughtful media content, projects, and events.
The upcoming capsule features a range of apparel and reworked retro footwear featuring Johnston’s distinct illustrations, with the goal of supporting and inspiring new conversations about mental health.
Vans Skate Authentic, Slip-On, and Sk8-Hi sneakers are adorned with detailed artwork inspired by the Johnston’s lo-fi albums “Respect” and “Do not Be Scared.” The Skate Authentics have a black canvas base with illustrations extending from the midsoles to the uppers, while the Slip-Ons and Sk8-His have graphics-filled checkerboard prints.
To round out the collection, hoodies, shirts, long-sleeve tees, chino pants, totes, hats, and socks are available in similar checkerboard prints and playful illustrations.
The Daniel Johnston x Vans collection is now available at the Vans website and select stockists.
