Hyundai has unveiled the IONIQ 6, a new all-electric sedan, more than a year after the South Korean automaker unveiled its IONIQ 5 crossover.

The IONIQ 6 adopts an extremely streamlined design that places a strong emphasis on aerodynamic efficiency. It was inspired by the original Prophecy concept that was first displayed back in 2020.

Hyundai’s newest model has a drag coefficient of just 0.21, which is significantly lower than the 0.25–0.3 average for other cars on the market. This is made possible by a number of clever design elements, including a low nose, active air flaps, wheel gap reducers, optional slim digital side mirrors, an elliptical wing-inspired spoiler, a slight boat-tail construction, and separation traps on both sides of the rear bumper.

With no detail overlooked, the automak2er even improved the aerodynamics of its underside by using a full undercarriage cover, improved deflectors, and smaller wheel-arch gaps.

The IONIQ 6’s cabin, which Hyundai refers to as being “cocoon-shaped,” is primarily constructed of eco-friendly materials to support the automaker’s green initiative, such as eco-processed leather and recycled PET fabric.

The EV’s designers and engineers were able to keep the interior floor completely flat and give passengers a more spacious experience because it is constructed on the brand’s new modular platform. A 12-inch touchscreen display, a second 12-inch touchscreen display, and a modular touchscreen dashboard complete the vehicle.

Sadly, no specs have been revealed and there is currently no release date. Those who are interested should check back for more information from Hyundai.
