Lincoln Introduces Its First EV Concept — The Star

Lincoln has unveiled the “Star,” a stunning new electric vehicle concept that lays the groundwork for the company’s ambitious electrification plans, which include the introduction of three fully electric zero-emission vehicles by 2025.

For the new concept SUV, the Ford-owned luxury automaker goes for a sleek, aerodynamic look, with new thoughtful design details, intuitive features, and immersive experiences. Lincoln’s designers were able to take an unconventional approach thanks to the switch to electric, as evidenced by the large electrochromatic front trunk, which turns transparent while in motion.

The Star concept includes three preset moods — Coastal Morning, Mindful Vitality, and Evening Chill — that build on natural circadian rhythms and harmonize audio, scents, and lighting for a rejuvenating atmosphere, as well as transparent 3D-printed metal latticework featured on the A-pillars and D-pillars that allows for a flood of natural light and the added feeling of spaciousness.

A glass beverage chiller is integrated between the back seats, Lincoln Attaché, a digital briefcase concept with a hidden compartment in the rear coach door, and a reimagined rear cargo space that transforms into a plush outdoor seat when in lounge mode are among the additional features.

“This is a shining example of what happens when we combine Lincoln luxury with flexible electrical architecture to create unimaginable experiences for customers,” said Jim Farley, president and CEO of Ford Motor Company. “We can truly revolutionize how people engage with the brand and scale it across an exciting lineup of products that catapult Lincoln into the digital, connected age.”
