Kanye West had to battle with cataclysmic Category 4 Hurricane Ida’s impact on the Louisiana shore, but he still managed to lead social media trends with the release of his studio album, Donda, on Sunday.

For almost a year, the artist has been teasing the release. The true hype started in the summer of 2021. Donda (the title was inspired by his late mother’s first name) was originally scheduled to be published on July 23rd. Then on August 6th and subsequently on August 15th. After holding a listening party at Chicago’s Soldier Field on August 27, it appeared like it will be released on August 27.

Now that it’s out, it’s clear to see why it took so long: Donda is a massive album. It’s nearly two hours long and includes 26 tracks as well as a slew of guest artists.
