New Balance goes NKD On the 2002R “Calm Taupe”

The 2002R has become one of New Balance‘s most popular lifestyle silhouettes in the last two years. It’s an intriguing new direction for the model, which was originally released in 2010 as the 2002 (the “R” was added in 2020) as a top-of-the-line running shoe that retailed for $250.

It’s now a popular casual option that combines the top half of the OG 2002 with the midsole unit of the 860v2. It also comes in a variety of new colorways each season, the most recent of which is a soothing “Calm Taupe.”

The “Calm Taupe,” which was recently added to the New Balance webstore, uses its signature shade on its suede overlays and contrasts it with a “Angora” mesh base. There are also hits of crisp metallic silver on the heel and toebox, as well as two-tone midsoles for added contrast and black outsoles for added murkiness.

The “Calm Taupe,” is now available at New Balance for $140 USD.
