Nike‘s Air Trainer 1 has made a strong comeback this year. The Air Trainer 1 continues to play a role in the sneaker game, with the re-release of the original “Chlorophyll” colorway and collaboration with hip-hop superstar Travis Scott.
Tinker Hatfield designed the model, which debuted in 1987 and gave birth to the cross-training footwear category. Hatfield was inspired to create a shoe that could do it all after observing the prevalence of gym goers bringing multiple pairs of shoes tailored to their activities.
The Air Trainer 1 “Midnight Navy,” which has already been released in Europe, is expected to hit shelves in the United States soon at a retail price of $125 USD through Nike and select retailers.
