The Nike Air Max 90 is a classic designed by Tinker Hatfield that is one of the most popular Air Max silhouettes of all time. However, until now, it has not been known for its water repellent.
Nike Sportswear has given the Air Max 90 a GORE-TEX makeover, making it weatherproof without sacrificing any of its signature style, and that special makeup is now available in a decidedly rainy day-appropriate “Anthracite/Pure Platinum” colorway.
Following the “Photon Dust” and “Cargo Khaki” colorways, the “Anthracite/Pure Platinum” features a mix of blue, black, grey, and white tones, as well as a leather construction rather than the standard mesh of the Air Max 90.
A full-foot GORE-TEX membrane prevents water from seeping through the outer layer’s leather folds. Special branded hits on the tongue and the Air Max 90’s signature plastic midfoot “window” nod to this special material, while the heel’s rubberized badge remains unchanged to complete the look.
The Nike Air Max 90 GORE-TEX in “Anthracite/Pure Platinum” has yet to be released, but it should be available on the Nike website in the coming weeks.
