With a career boasting 88 Grammy nominations, 24 wins, 14 chart-topping albums, and four number one singles, Jay-Z has undeniably left an indelible mark on the music industry. However, there was one achievement missing from his illustrious resume—until now.
The iconic track “N*ggas in Paris” from Jay-Z and Ye‘s (aka Kanye West) 2011 collaborative album, Watch the Throne, has officially reached diamond certification, marking a groundbreaking milestone for the acclaimed rapper.
After achieving gold status just four months following the release of Watch the Throne and subsequently going platinum in February 2012, “N*ggas in Paris” has now received an impressive ten platinum certifications, catapulting it into the exclusive realm of diamond-certified songs. This coveted recognition comes from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which has only bestowed this honor upon a select few—currently, a mere 110 songs across all genres hold this distinction.
Jay-Z now joins the ranks of esteemed rappers such as Eminem, Drake, and Travis Scott, who have also achieved diamond certifications for their singles. Notably, this isn’t Kanye West’s first time in the diamond club, as his hit single “Stronger” from the album Graduation surpassed the 10 million certified units mark in October 2021.
it’s a real blessing to be apart of the song that became jay-z first diamond record and producing the album that won Nas his first grammy. What a life 🙏🏾
While Jay-Z and Kanye West have remained tight-lipped about this remarkable accomplishment, the joyous celebration has spread across social media. Producers Mike Dean and Hit-Boy, both of whom played a role in creating “N*ggas in Paris,” took to Twitter to express their elation.
The diamond certification of “N*ggas in Paris” serves as a testament to the enduring impact and cultural significance of Jay-Z’s music, solidifying his status as one of the industry’s most influential figures.
