The Air Jordan 9 is the only Air Jordan silhouette from 1-14 that Michael Jordan did not wear on an NBA court, yet it does not detract from its prestige.
When the Air Jordan 9 debuted in 1993, MJ was chasing his diamond aspirations with the Birmingham Barons, but instead of stifling the silhouette, his absence from the hardwood made it a potent placeholder. It is back with a new “Fire Red” colorway slated to arrive in November, with official photographs having just surfaced.
“Fire Red” is, of course, a well-known Air Jordan colorway. It is appeared on the Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 4, and Air Jordan 5, as well as other other Nike sneakers, but this is the first time it is appeared on the Air Jordan 9.
It is largely employed as an accent color, highlighting the eyestays, branding accents, and heel tabs, while white leather and high-gloss “Wolf Grey” patent leather make up the majority of the design. Outsoles have multicultural images and text that allude to MJ’s global impact on the game.
On November 5, the Air Jordan 9 “Fire Red” will be available through Nike SNKRS and select Swoosh retailers, while men pairs will cost $200 USD each.
