The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Amazon Prime Video‘s eagerly awaited Lord of the Rings drama series, received a brand-new trailer on Friday at San Diego Comic-Con.

The three-minute trailer sets the stage for the overall plot of the show, focusing initially on Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) standing amidst a huge stack of helmets in the wake of the last great war and later on the evil Sauron’s attempts to retake power in a prosperous Middle-earth. The terrifying balrog omits a recognisable roar at the trailer’s conclusion, indicating that it will appear in the upcoming series.

The official log-line: “Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.”

The series features a sizable cast, which includes Clark, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle and others.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 2.
