The Mercedes-Maybach GLS Brabus 900 Merges Opulence and Power in Luxurious Package

Brabus isn’t known for its subtlety, but its new take on the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 may be one of the company’s most extravagantly customized and opulent builds to date.

After receiving the Brabus 900 treatment, the GLS 600 now produces 900 horsepower and 1,250 Nm of torque (although this is electronically limited to 1,050 Nm), and it accelerates to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 199 mph.

Sportscars, not uber-luxe SUVs, are frequently given such figures. Regardless, Brabus has accomplished the unthinkable, and it doesn’t end with a power boost. An exposed carbon exterior concept, 24-inch Monoblock M “Platinum Edition” forged wheels with a signature “Shadow Gray” finish, and a newly developed stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system “for a subtle sound experience” can be found on the exterior.

This includes high-end aerodynamic components such as new fender flares and a carbon fiber front fascia, as well as a full carbon rear diffuser that houses the ovular twin pipes at the back.

All of the car’s original chrome has been replaced with “Shadow Chrome,” and the rear badging has been given the full Brabus treatment. The D-pillar emblems have also been darkened, and the signature Maybach nameplate on the grille has been redesigned to emphasize that this is all Brabus’ work.

Elsewhere, we find a completely customized interior with many firsts for Brabus. The “Bi-Color Masterpiece” concept, for example, combines black and beige leather with special seashell diamond stitching on the seats and leather floormats, while the two first-class single seats in the rear — complete with multi-contour adjustment, memory, and integrated seat ventilation and heating — get the same leather treatment, as well as leather and microfiber cushions and the full Maybach entertainment suite.

A slew of carbon fiber accents have been added to many of the interior’s touchpoints to round out the new theme.

A standard Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 starts at $160,500 USD. Brabus’ iteration is priced on a per-request basis. Take a closer look at the car above and learn more about it online.
