For Fall/Winter 2022, Charaf Tajer‘s Casablanca drops a collection co-signed by Hollywood legend Nicolas Cage, and throughout the Hugo Comte-shot lookbook, we saw the actor play himself while continually donning various variations of the label’s eyewear collection. Casablanca has now released said sunglasses.
Casablanca offers six silhouettes this season: “The Magazine,” “The Memphis,” “The Pilot,” “The Casino,” “The Laurel,” and “The Wing.” Each is inspired by the brand’s signature undertones of summer riviera-meets-classic ’70s and ’80s vibes, and comes in tortoiseshell, black and gold, rose-tinted lenses, yellow, pink, green, and more.
Consider the song “The Memphis.” Pink, yellow, and brown are employed in three alternating versions of this vintage-inspired style, which combines wavy acetate arms with 18K gold branding on the temple and a fascia strengthened by two ovular lenses.
Similarly, the retro undertones continue with “The Pilot,” a reimagining of the original aviator frame that again features 18K gold hardware, this time acting as an exoskeleton to keep two enormous lenses in place.
“The Laurel,” another pair in cream tones with green and red metal and 18K gold branding on the arms, gives the sides a less structured flare. This pair, which is also ovular on the front, screams ’80s.
