KITH

KITH’s Summer 2022 Is a Minimalist’s Dream

You clearly are not shopping at KITH if you can not find anything to wear in your closet. Every season, the New York retailer releases massive collections, sometimes twice, but always covering every conceivable stylistic angle through well-stocked wardrobes.

The Summer 2022 collection, which will be available on KITH’s website and in stores on May 27, keeps things moving. Despite this, it is pleasantly understated, with a focus on respectably clean daily drivers rather than loud “streetwear.”A Minimalist’s dream.

T-shirts

Longtime KITH fans will appreciate the brand’s signature 230GSM cotton jersey T-shirts, which are worth purchasing again and again.

This season, things get a little more floral, with a focus on printed florals to match the delicate KITH script logo.

Tops & Layering Pieces

Garment-washed japanese indigo jacquards, custom seersucker, embroidered cotton voile, enzyme-treated nylon, silk cotton paisley — KITH’s textiles are always spot-on. The details? damn son, with Excella zippers, pearl head snap buttons, and trapunto-stitched placket reinforcement replacing cheapo hardware.

There are plenty of garments given a bold face by statement patterns, including a set of shirts adorned with an all-over print of Kawase Hasui’s block-printed View of an Azalea Garden and Mt Fuji and “Lake Ashi, Hakone” landscape scenes from 1935, new iterations of the full-coverage graphics that KITH delivers in every collection.

Pants & Shorts

Drippy jacket needs a matching bottoms, ain’t that right. KITH got you covered and has created a plethora of elastic-waisted shorts with cargo pockets, breathable mesh, reinforced drawstring eyelets, and graphic flair via patchworked oxford cotton or matching Hasui prints to complement Summer 2022’s stacked outerwear lineup.

As always, the fabric selection is meticulous, with summerweight micro corduroy, garment-treated cotton twill, Japanese shirting, and “crystal-washed” cotton interlock, much of which is lined with mesh to extend the life of each garment.

KITH Classics

The name should be enough to tell you what to expect from KITH Classics, and the Summer 2022 lineup follows suit.

Kimono Hoodies, denim jackets, washed 280GSM cotton jersey T-shirts, knit terry towel polo shirts, washed-out shorts, and corduroy caps are all back in stock, reimagined in the ultra-versatile colors of Classics.

But, because this is KITH, no half-measures are taken. Mock neck T-shirts have had their bodies loosened for a more comfortable fit, short-sleeved tees have had their shoulders seams dropped to achieve the desired level of summertime slouch, and short-sleeved tees have had their bodies pigment-dyed to achieve a suitably lived-in fade.

Footwear

There is a lot more to come for KITH’s seasonal footwear drops (duh), but this first look is still neat.

KITH’s latest collaboration sandals are not anything out of the ordinary, simply combining neo-classic Kyoto with slightly different tonal suedes and grain leather, as well as classic foam rubber slides with broken KITH branding.

Hats, Bags & Accessories

The custom detergent created by The Laundress is the most worth a shout out of the many, many worth accessories that round out KITH’s Summer 2022 mainline drop. Its amber, sandalwood, ambrette seed, and musk blend is a tasteful reminder to keep washing your clothes all summer.

KITH also introduces a new line of Japanese-made acetate sunglasses, earthy-hued collaborative Stance socks, and enough hats to outfit an army of sneakerheads.

Another round of New Era 59Fifty collaborations includes washed cotton twill dad hats and bucket hats with chainstitched branding, golf-y visor caps, nylon camper hats with laser-perforated mesh lining, and the occasional long-brimmed 4-panel for keeping out those pesky rays from the sun.
