‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ First Trailer Teases New Character and More

Marvel Studios released the first trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as a way to wrap up the information it shared during its panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The sequel, which is helmed by the original film’s director Ryan Coogler, picks up where Black Panther left off and deals with the passing of Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa.

After King T’Challa’s death, the trailer opens with a scene of a nation in mourning, highlighting those who were closest to him. Undoubtedly, Wakanda is attempting to regain its footing as a new threat emerges. We learn more about Tenoch Huerta’s portrayal of Namor the Sub-Mariner in the opening scene. The King of Atlantis, who is revealed to be from an Aztec-inspired civilization and who rises from the ocean, has Wakanda in mind.

Other scenes hint at Riri Williams‘ upcoming role as Ironheart and Letitia Wright‘s Shuri taking on the role of the Black Panther.

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livanalli.
